Panasonic & Samsung Wi-Fi Phones using microQ via Broadcom Chipset

 

Market Convergence Brings Polyphonic Ringtones To Skype VoIP Phones

 

 

QSound Labs is pleased to announce that two new Wi-Fi phones recently introduced into the marketplace with Broadcom’s Wi-Fi chipset, incorporate QSound’s microQ® ringtone audio synthesizer technology. With the delivery of advanced ringtone technology for SKYPE, the popular Voice over IP communications service that allows point-to-point calling around the world, QSound has entered into yet another mobile arena.

 

The Panasonic KX-WP1050 Wi-Fi phone for use with Skype™ is a cordless handset and travel-sized Wi-Fi router combination that comes preset for easy access to Skype's VoIP service. Panasonic has taken the complexity out of making Skype™ calls by including a complete kit which can be set up and used by virtually anyone with little or no computer experience. This new model offers the range and security of WPA encrypted Wi-Fi technology, as well as Quality of Service (QoS) to improve voice quality.

 

Samsung’s SMT-W5100 WiFi Wireless LAN Phone offers an improved VoIP experience with greater mobility and cost efficiency through the qualified voice and data service of OfficeServ WLAN which removes needless cabling and maintenance. With its support for the SMT-W5100 WLAN phone and SMT-R2000 Dualband WLAN AP, OfficeServ systems provide full voice-data convergence not only for fixed network connections but also on Corporate WLAN.It features a compact and sleek design (Intenna type), messaging service (SMS, MMS), polyphonic sound and melody as well as WML browser and PTT. The SMT-W5100 is currently available for the small business market worldwide.

 

Broadcom's Wi-Fi phone chipset consists of the Broadcom mobile VoIP processor and AirForce One™ 54g® single-chip WLAN solution. Broadcom's Wi-Fi phone chipset enables consumer phone makers to develop IP phones with high voice quality, extended range, longer battery life and support for the latest security and quality of service (QoS) standards. Broadcom is currently shipping the BCM1161 mobile VoIP processor, which features low-power, advance multimedia and telephony functions including polyphonic ring-tone support by QSound Labs Inc.
